After Outsourcing a Task: Counting Review and Handover Costs

Outsourcing can relieve production stress, but it doesn’t automatically reduce a founder’s hours. This article discusses how small teams estimate the investment in requirements interpretation, sample validation, review and rework, and distinguish between tasks that can truly be handed over and tasks that rely on a large amount of tacit experience. The analysis does not regard external collaboration as zero cost in headcount, nor does it regard lower quotations as the only criterion for whether cooperation is effective.

The small team AI creation report provides the observation background for this topic. The following is ChinaOPC’s original cost analysis, and does not infer any team’s profits or outsourcing arrangements based on reports.

Try handing in a task with clear boundaries first

Simulate product image sorting, provide input samples, naming rules, delivery formats and common errors, and observe whether collaborators can complete it independently. If the description itself is still changing, a lot of rework may come from the task definition, not just the opponent's ability.

Time records cover the complete collaboration process

Communication, preparation of materials, review and rework are all included in the investment and compared with the time required to complete the same task. Even if the individual outsourcing price is low, the review time is too long and it may not be suitable for the current team.

Determine how to continue based on the trial results

You can reduce the scope, add explanations, or change it to a long-term fixed cooperation without having to hand over the entire process at once. Customer information is provided to the extent necessary and collaboration and confidentiality arrangements are confirmed. This article discusses business judgment and does not promise that outsourcing will necessarily reduce costs or increase the number of orders that can be accepted.
