When Clients Cancel: Explaining AI Work Already Completed

The customer's cancellation of the project does not mean that the previous data collection, model calls and manual modifications have not occurred. This article starts from task records and discusses how small teams can distinguish work that has not yet started, is being processed, and has been confirmed, so that both parties can see the actual progress and deliverable parts. The article provides business communication methods and does not preset refund conclusions. The specific handling should be based on the agreement between the two parties and the actual situation.

Persistence documentation provides the technical background for task state management. The following is ChinaOPC’s original business analysis. It is not an investigation of a certain customer dispute, nor does it make a legal judgment on a case-by-case basis.

Progress description needs to correspond to actual results

Simulating a graphic production, the team can separately explain the status of received materials, completed first draft, customer confirmation and official release. All internal repeated attempts cannot be regarded as accepted by the customer, nor can the agreed work be completely ignored just because the customer has not seen it yet.

Pause new consumption first, and then check the current situation

After receiving a cancellation request, confirm which tasks can be stopped, which external services are still running, and whether the generated content can be organized and handed over. Tell the truth about calls that cannot be immediately undone, and do not cover up the specific situation with vague "the system has automatically processed it."

Convert disputes into discussable records

List the versions, confirmation records and actual costs, and the two parties will discuss the unfinished parts, delivered parts and subsequent processing as agreed. The next cooperation can clarify the stopping conditions and stage scope earlier. This article does not provide a uniform deduction ratio, nor does it consider complete records to mean that any party is certainly entitled to charge the entire fee.
