Mark Tuwen’s official website classifies a visual search project for a cross-border luggage and consumer goods company as an “FDE business implementation” case. According to its self-report, the system uses product reference images to retrieve historical materials, locally accesses the original image gallery, and combines visual representation, vector indexing and business tags to screen candidates. The customer name has been processed, and ChinaOPC has not independently verified the customer's identity or operating results.
Let me first ask what you are going to do after getting this picture.
The following is ChinaOPC’s independent analysis of product visual retrieval services, and is not the customer’s undisclosed business rules. The salesperson holds a reference picture of a bag and may want to find a similar shape for customers to choose from; the product selector may be concerned about the structure and use; the content team hopes to find other angles of the same product. These tasks all start with pictures, but require different results.
If the task is not distinguished first, the system will rank candidates with similar colors first, which may be helpful for finding visual references, but not helpful for finding similar products. A small team can work with actual users to describe what conditions a "suitable candidate" needs to meet, and then discuss which conditions can be observed from the image and which ones must be confirmed by going back to the product data.
For example, pictures can help compare outlines, patterns and local structures, but they may not prove material, capacity or actual size. Two products with similar appearance may be used for different purposes; the same product may appear very different if the shooting angle is changed. The search results should retain the entry for continued verification, and the degree of similarity cannot be directly interpreted as having the same specifications.
Product relationships in the historical gallery must also be found.
The same product may have front, side, details and different background images. If the candidate list is filled with these near-duplicate images, it will still be difficult for business personnel to see more available products. You can discuss merging and displaying by product, and allowing you to expand and view pictures; for old materials that have not yet established a corresponding relationship, explain the gaps first to avoid mistaking multiple files for multiple products.
Some historical pictures may also correspond to products that have been discontinued, are temporarily out of stock, or have incomplete information. Just because the picture is found does not mean that the order can be accepted at the moment. Sales should continue to be able to view existing merchandise records and confirm the supply conditions with the responsible person before shipping to the customer. The follow-up arrangements here are service design suggestions, and the original case did not disclose enough details to prove that these functions are already in place.
The original page states that the technical verification sample and the actual business gallery are of different sizes. When readers research such services, they should also ask in what data range the candidate effects are observed. The performance on a small number of neat pictures cannot naturally represent the daily image gallery mixed with old pictures, repeated pictures and complex backgrounds, let alone the actual retrieval quality cannot be inferred based on the quantity of materials.
See how a real picture-finding task ends
Users can be asked to bring a small number of typical reference images that have been approved for use, describe why they need to find images at that time, and how to judge whether the candidates are available. In addition to the task of finding a suitable item, it is also worth observing situations where it is not found, where multiple approximations are found, and where supplementary information is needed. Recording which step the stuck is at makes it easier to determine whether the image expression, product association or business conditions need to be supplemented.
For small teams, the initial delivery can revolve around a clear category and a picture-finding task. Organizing the corresponding discussion between reference pictures and candidate products can help customers understand the service better than displaying a page of beautiful search results alone. Where the image gallery comes from and which materials are allowed to be called and used externally must still be confirmed based on the actual information. The search capability itself does not provide image use authorization.
This article uses the self-report of the service provider's public project. FDE classifies its own business on its official website, and does not guess anonymous customers based on the homepage's cooperative brands. The technical verification is not regarded as having passed the ChinaOPC commercial acceptance, the search time-consuming ratio is not used to prove the effect, and the entire company is not determined to belong to OPC based on the number of core team presenters.
