What to do when searching for information and sorting it?
Qwen's official model card lists text vector and rearrangement models such as 0.6B, 4B and 8B. Embedding converts text into vectors for comparison; Reranker re-scores questions and candidate texts. They serve the retrieval process and should not be regarded as chat models that directly answer all questions just because they come from the language model family.
Among them, the Qwen3-Embedding-0.6B model card lists 32K contexts and adjustable output dimensions. The series supports task instructions and multi-language retrieval. The specifications here are used to understand interface selection and do not mean that any language or database has met business requirements.
After-sales issues are often not worded in the original language (ChinaOPC analysis)
The customer may say "the machine lights up but does not work", but the manual describes a certain fault condition. The pilot should collect real questions, map them to the correct explanation paragraphs, and add confusing models. This way we can determine whether semantic retrieval is helpful, rather than just testing with questions that are exactly the same as the document title.
First find a batch of candidates from the database, and then use rearrangement to adjust the order. This is an evaluable combination. If the candidate never contains the correct material, rearrangement cannot find it out of thin air; so the ability to retrieve the correct material and the ability to rank the correct material to the front should be looked at separately.
Keep query and index configuration consistent
The task description set for the query should remain stable and distinguish the query side from the document side according to official usage. After changes to the model, dimensions, or text processing, old indexes often need to be re-evaluated and rebuilt if necessary; vectors generated by different settings cannot be mixed by default just because they are the same length.
Document segmentation also affects the results. Separating a condition from its conclusion may result in a search that yields incomplete evidence. A small number of representative questions can be used to compare different segmentation methods, retaining the title, model, version, and applicable conditions to avoid letting vectors take on all the information organization work.
The results page should allow people to judge the basis
When the knowledge base is provided to the outside world, the location of the original text and the applicable version will be displayed. If the information is insufficient, it will clearly return Not Found. Permission filtering should run through query and display, and other customers’ materials should not be exposed due to high similarity. The backend should also be able to revoke expired data and find out when to re-index.
The value of a small team can lie in terminology organization, sample construction and data maintenance, rather than just changing a model name. This article did not retest the rankings. Whether to improve search should be measured based on actual customer problems and manual search time.
