Index-Translate: Separating Versions and Language Coverage in Text and Image Translation

The Bilibili Index team has unveiled the Index-Translate series. The project update record includes text translation and visual translation versions. This article distinguishes model specifications, preview status, and language coverage according to the official warehouse, and then explains how to check the terms, numbers, and image and text positions based on the translation of product information; official evaluation and actual business performance need to be understood separately.

Functions that can be confirmed by official information

The official warehouse lists the preview specifications of 2B, 9B and 35B-A3B, with text translation covering 150 languages, and a visual translation version is listed in the update record on October 10. The series supports translation requirements such as terminology, but the number of text translations cannot be directly applied to the language range of the derived speech direction. Specific model entries should be considered when selecting.

ChinaOPC Analysis: Picture translation needs to check positional relationships

Assume that a product description picture also contains model numbers, button descriptions, and precautions. During testing, you should separately confirm what the text is translated into and which object in the picture it corresponds to. Even if the sentence is fluent, if the left and right component names or indicating positions are confused, the delivery result will still be unusable. This article provides inspection ideas and does not conduct actual evaluation of the model.

In the first round, you can select several authorized pictures with manual reference drafts, including clear pictures, pictures with dense text, and pictures with special units. Record the original image location, original text, translation and manual modifications side by side. Keep the difficult examples separately and recheck them when you change versions later. Do not just pick the clearest page to judge the entire data set.

Select text, image and voice separately.

If the client has provided editable text, use the text task to evaluate terminology and formatting first; further verification of visual input is only required if the material itself is in the image. Audio input, speaker voice and text conversion involve different links. Just because they belong to the same project series, it does not mean that all versions have the same input and output capabilities.

Preview versions should also be noted in the trial record. You can fix a small sample and observe whether the translation meets the customer's language direction and terminology conventions, and then discuss equipment, response time and subsequent maintenance. Model size alone is not a sufficient substitute for these acceptance conditions, nor do larger sizes automatically fit existing equipment.

What confirmations should be completed before starting to use it?

The official repository provides model and access information, but you still need to check the permission, interface quota, data processing rules and environmental requirements of the selected file before going online. Model resources, quantification files and complete applications are not deliverables at the same level. After downloading, you need to confirm whether they can run in the target environment.

The model can be used for draft generation and problem identification of foreign language materials, which can then be reviewed by people who are familiar with the product and the target language. When it comes to model, unit, and performance descriptions, keep the original basis, and the automatic translation cannot be used directly as a fact check.
