FDE Troubleshooting: Linking Retrieval, Models and Tools in One Request

When customers say results are slow or incomplete, scattered logs often fail to explain what happened on the same job. Based on the concept of OpenTelemetry tracking, this article discusses how business request identification, step time and expense records are related, explaining that sensitive content does not need to be written to the log in its entirety. The goal is to make faults localizable, rather than directly equating collecting more data with a more secure system.

OpenTelemetry describes the relationship between operations through traces and spans. This article provides recording ideas for AI applications, but it does not mean that anyone who connects will automatically get a complete business explanation.

Reserve the associated identifier for the same business

Simulate client generated reports, retrieval, model, tool and file output share a traceable identifier, recording start, end and error type respectively. Task content can be associated with controlled references to avoid copying complete customer data to ordinary logs.

Record the fields that can support the decision

Troubleshooting requires entering size, version, retry and wait information, and costs should be tagged with real interface bills or clear estimates. The two cannot be confused for accurate settlement. Too many record fields increase exposure and maintenance burden, and should be chosen around practical problems.

Check traceability with a simulated failure

Let a certain step fail in the test environment, and confirm that the maintainer can find the corresponding reason from the user task and know the next step. Different system clocks and asynchronous processing also need to be considered. This article provides implementation methods and does not claim that monitoring tools can replace permissions, quality checks, or human judgment.
