FDE Upgrades: Keeping Existing Workflows Compatible with New Fields

Adding a field to the AI system may also cause the customer's original form or interface to stop working. This article refers to the structure combination document, discusses the old and new data formats, compatibility range, and migration steps, and proposes a sample matrix that should be prepared before FDE is released. The goal is to make changes visible, testable, and rollable, and not to use "just new features" as a reason not to notify customers, nor to claim that compatibility is automatically established.

JSON Schema combination rules provide technical background for format verification. This article studies version evolution, and compatibility still needs to be verified against actual producers and consumers.

First list who is reading this result

The simulation report adds "Confirmation Status", the page may be normal, but the customer export script fails due to the change in column order. Record all known recipients and reading methods, and clarify whether new fields are required and whether old fields will continue to be retained.

Create a test matrix using old and new combinations

Test the old input vs. the new service, the new input vs. the old receiving procedure, and the lack of new fields. Passing format verification does not mean that the business meaning is consistent, and changes in field meaning should be regarded as clear version changes.

The migration deadline and rollback data are delivered at the same time

Notify customers of update schedules in advance, retain conversion instructions and samples, and confirm when support for the old format will cease. Rollback cannot just resume the program and ignore the new data that has been written. The article is a simulation engineering solution and does not mean that any specific customer upgrade has been verified successfully.
