Long Audio and Large Files: Bound Resources before Queuing AI Tasks

Large files will occupy uploading, storage, parsing and model resources at the same time. Simply limiting the number of model calls is not enough. This article refers to the upload and queue documents to discuss the coordination of file size, processing time limit, temporary data and task status, and helps small teams design resumable long task entries. The queuing system also needs capacity management, and the infinite accumulation of tasks cannot be regarded as stable operation.

The OWASP upload guide and n8n queue information cover resource limits and task execution respectively. The following is a general design. The specific storage method needs to check the platform support conditions.

Confirm that the data can be processed before joining the team

To simulate long audio transcription, first check the allowed type, size and duration, and then generate a task record. There is a cleaning policy for residual files that failed to be uploaded, and expensive parsing cannot be started repeatedly without complete input.

Queue status needs to be understandable by users

Distinguish between uploading, waiting, processing, pending confirmation and failed. Give clear reminders when capacity is exceeded to avoid accepting tasks that cannot be completed within the agreed time. Tasks of different priorities should also be explained in advance, rather than being queued randomly in the background.

Designed to restore and clean at the same time

The step-by-step progress and necessary intermediate results are saved, so that after failure, it can be judged whether to rerun; temporary files are cleaned up as agreed, and the customer's original data is not accidentally deleted due to timeout. Resource budgeting takes into account storage, computation, and manual processing, and does not promise that any file will be completed in a fixed time.
