Handling AI Results That Arrive after Cancellation

The external model may still be calculating when the user clicks Cancel, and the results may not be returned until later. This article discusses the separation of cancellation status, result reception, and business writing, and provides a design method to prevent old results from overwriting new tasks. Canceling the interface response does not mean that all external expenses will be stopped immediately. The service needs to explain the actual capabilities and keep verifiable execution and expense records.

Persistence and idempotent request data provide state management context. This article is designed for the ChinaOPC process and does not interpret any framework as being able to undo all external operations that have occurred.

Cancel to block subsequent business actions first

Simulate the user to cancel report generation, and the application records the cancellation time and task version; even if the external calculation cannot be terminated immediately, the returned results should not continue to be sent or overwrite the official file. Business actions that have occurred need to be confirmed separately whether they support withdrawal.

Strictly distinguish new tasks from old results

After the user modifies the input and resubmits, the new task number will be used. The late callback of the old task can only update its own status and must not be regarded as the result of the new task. Result receiving points should check cancellation and version conditions again.

Test cancellation occurs at different stages

Cover queuing, calculation, before writing and after notification, and clarify what can be stopped at each stage. The interface displays the status truthfully and does not write "Stopped waiting" as "The supplier has stopped billing". This article discusses application design, the actual behavior depends on the interface and business system it is connected to.
