Separate official rules from this checklist

The cyberspace authorities' March 2025 explanation discusses the Measures for Labeling AI-Generated and Synthetic Content and associated standards, effective September 1, 2025. These are our original working notes. The linked official text and standards govern actual scope and responsibilities.

File handling can change presentation

Generation tools, editors, transcoders and publishing platforms may handle images, audio, video and associated information separately. Visible wording and identification in file data require different checks. A generic notice does not establish completion of every requirement.

Record generation methods and existing labels before delivery. After editing and export, check that necessary notices have not been cropped, obscured or lost. Tell clients which files were processed and what remains to check on the actual publishing channel, rather than hiding incomplete steps in attachments.

Preserve the relationship to real content

Fictional scenes are not evidence of on-site reporting, and synthetic people are not genuine customer testimonials. Labels cannot make false or unauthorized content acceptable. Further reading: portrait-data checks.
