Why AI Application Backups Also Need Recovery Drills

The existence of a backup file does not mean that the service can be restored as expected. This article refers to the Docker data volume document to discuss how to identify the program, configuration, business data and key of the model application respectively, and gives the order of verification and recovery in the isolation environment. The focus is to confirm that the data is readable, version compatible and permissions are complete, and avoid directly overwriting the data in the formal environment to prove that the backup is effective.

Docker documentation explains that data volumes are used for persistence and provides backup and recovery ideas. This article discusses recovery preparation for a complete application. The running database also needs to use its own consistent backup method.

First list what is needed for recovery

Model files, business databases, upload materials, configurations and credentials may not be in the same location. Create an inventory and record versions and checksums to identify what data can be backed up, who has permission to read it, and where the backups are stored.

Follow steps to restore in isolation environment

First verify that the file is complete, then start the corresponding version of the program to check login, data query and a simulation task. Use test configurations for external sending and formal writing interfaces to avoid accidental triggering of real services during recovery drills.

Record actual time taken and missing items

The time spent temporarily searching for passwords or dependent packages during the recovery process is also included. After failure, provide additional explanation and re-check the relevant steps. Do not write "compressed package can be opened" as recovery success. This article is an operation and maintenance method and does not mean that any existing backup has been verified or can be restored to any historical point.
